I was definitely hooked on this book from the beginning, it took me just three days to read it! I thought it was an interesting concept. I mean witches, vampires, and demons are not a new concept, but the idea that there is an Opal that gives other supernaturals heightened power is something new. This means that the Opal is being sought after by all of the supernatural races, as well as the good and the bad. Which leads to a bad of people coming together to protect the Opal.
Charlie did not know that she was supernatural, which is something that happens in other books. However, in this instance she realizes it because she is able to see this tea shoppe and goes in to work there. She also has had a lot of anxiety attacks and problems during her life so she hasn’t lived a normal one. As soon as she finds out she has magic this all stops and now instead of her usual problems, she has the problems of figuring out what her magic means.
I liked all of the characters in this book, I think they all meshed well together and were well developed. I really like Charlie and Desmond I think they fit well. I did think that it went from nothing at all to let me give you everything on your list you haven’t done in the span of 24 hours really fast. Don’t get me wrong was still super cute, and I was happy, but I was like hey lets save some for another day. Although guess that is if they make it to another day since a primary witch is after Charlie and they have to find a way to defeat her.
I thought there were some good twists in this book, like some people you think are one thing and then all of a sudden you find out they are not at all what they seem. I thought the ending was a pretty good twist, however I was pretty sad about it. The fact that no one remembers I am like omg no they all got to this point and were starting a great team and poof it is all gone. At first I was like is there going to be another?! And then I saw at the end a preview for the second, which I am refraining from starting until the whole book is out. I am still pulling for Charlie and Desmond, and the twist that a new villain has emerged is going to make it very interesting, I mean the team has to get back together now!
