All 16-year-old Cameron wants is to get through high school—and life in general—with a minimum of effort. It’s not a lot to ask. But that’s before he’s given some bad he’s sick and he’s going to die. Which totally sucks. Hope arrives in the winged form of Dulcie, a loopy punk angel/possible hallucination with a bad sugar habit. She tells Cam there is a cure—if he’s willing to go in search of it. With the help of a death-obsessed, video-gaming dwarf and a yard gnome, Cam sets off on the mother of all road trips through a twisted America into the heart of what matters most. I am working my way through a book a month that my friends have suggested. This was from one of my best friends and we always share books. This one did not disappoint! First off I have to say I love that it had so many mentions of Disneyland because I am a huge Disney fan. So, it had me hooked right away. I found myself laughing [...]

Rating: 1 1/2 ♥’s Published: April 21, 2020 Genre: Fantasy Pages: 110 Description: If the path becomes lost, can you find your way home? Pierre Danville is the reluctant heir to the Danville clan of Fae. As if that’s not bad enough, Fate has chosen his future bride for him, and Pierre’s not impressed. All he wants is freedom to choose his Destiny. Petrina envies her friends who marry for love and are properly courted by their Fae men. Instead of courting, Petrina and Pierre are forced into the woods where they can be alone and work out their problems. A witch is at work in the Danville Forest. Her prize is a young Danville heir with his Destiny. If Pierre and Petrina don’t work together, it could spell the end for the Danvilles. This was my pick for my Hansel and Gretel retelling, and let me just say it was hard to find a retelling of this story. I was intrigued when I read the description and thought this will be a good one to try. I am sad to say though that this book just didn't do it for me. [...]

The Ever After closes the last trilogy of the long-running Trylle series. I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was excited to continue my journey with the Omte Trilogy and see how the series came to a close. I did enjoy the book, however it did not live up to my expectations of what I thought it was going to be. I felt that beginning drug on a bit and it could have been shortened and it would have given the reader just as much information. Some of it was actually kind of confusing trying to figure out what was happening and who all the different places and tribes were. Once I got past that part though it got better and I got more engaged in it. I especially liked the final battle scene where you get all these different monster described and I just was imagining them in my [...]

As a new queen is crowned, however, things long hidden in the woods descend on the kingdom itself. Cerys is forced on the run, her only companions the small fox from the garden, a strange and powerful bear, and the magic in her veins. It’s up to her to find the legendary Lady of the Wilds and beg for a way to save her home. [...]

Dan O’Brien Guest Post

2019-03-16T09:32:48-06:00March 16th, 2019|Tags: , , , , , |0 Comments

I am very excited to have my first guest post! This is from author Dan O'Brien, who is about to release his 6th book in his supernatural series and is offering a deal on his other books! First of all, I want to thank you for hosting me today. My name is Dan O’Brien and I’m probably best known for my Lauren Westlake books, especially the bestselling Bitten. I stopped by today to talk about the ongoing series, as well as a limited-time sale on the Lauren Westlake eBooks in preparation for the next release, Besieged. Before I pitch you on the first five books for only 99c, I want to take a moment and answer a few questions so you can get to know me a little better, dear reader. Does writing energize or exhaust you?Writing has always been an important psychological outlet for me. I can’t imagine a life where I don’t write in some capacity. It certainly energizes me. And perhaps more importantly, it rescues me when I feel alone or if I’m having a poor mental health day. I think writing means different things to different people. [...]
