Book Description:
You will be punished…
Celestine North lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.
But then Celestine encounters a situation where she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found flawed.
In her breathtaking young adult debut, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society where perfection is paramount and flaws lead to punishment. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything.

Let me just first say this has to be one of my favorite books I have gotten in my book boxes yet! I wasn’t sure at first how it was going to be and then I started and I just couldn’t wait to read more and find out what happens! This is definitely not the normal sci fi/dystopian that I have read, meaning it has a new idea that I have not read about before.

This is a society where perfection is what people need to be, if they make mistakes they are flawed and this all came about because the people in government and powerful positions before made mistakes and made the world how it became and that is because they were flawed, so only perfect people know what is right…or so they say. When really in hindsight everyone is flawed, even the guild who is the one who decides if people are flawed. It is interesting too because the other countries are not following this rule so it is the first society that is implementing this rule.

I thought that the characters in the book were great and well developed. I loved Celestine’s mom she just ended up being a much stronger person than I thought she was going to be. I thought that Celestine was a good character, she didn’t whine the entire book like some characters do when they aren’t able to accomplish what they want right away, she had her moments where she was like I can’t do this but they were short lived and she worked through them. I am excited to see what happens with her and Carrick’s relationship because I like him a lot more than Art.

I like that the book has some mystery to it like who is on what side and what all is really going on behind the scenes of the guild. Trying to figure out who is working with Celestine and who is working against her but pretending to be with her. It keeps you guessing and the ending leaves you with another guess as to what that person wants with her, but I don’t want to give it away so read it and find out! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and find out what ends up happening.
