Dr. Maxwell, Saffron’s mentor, is the main suspect, having had an explosive argument with Dr. Henry a few days prior. As evidence mounts against Dr. Maxwell and the expedition's departure draws nearer, Saffron realizes if she wants her mentor's name cleared, she’ll have to do it herself. Rating: 4 ♥'s | This story intrigued me because I was in the mood for a good spooky mystery/gothic tale. I thought that it was an overall good read, however, I wanted it to be just a little more creepy and gothic...

Happy 2022! Here we go again time for a new year of book reading and book challenges! Yet again I have more than I am sure I can finish, but that is ok! I still have a lot of fun trying to complete them and also expanding my book reading when I do these challenges. Plus I just love being involved in the communities that surround these and seeing what others read and just hearing their thoughts on what they have read. Without further ado here are the challenges I am participating in! I have provided links to all if you click the title, if I find more along the way I will add them in :-). Happy Reading everyone!! The Dead of False Creek (Journal Through Time Mysteries #1)

2022-04-08T01:55:55-06:00October 5th, 2021|Tags: , , |0 Comments

Rating: 3 ♥'s | I thought overall this was a fairly good start to a series. The premise is unique and I liked the idea a lot. You get a lot of dual timeline novels but you don't really see them intersecting like they do in this one.

Stolen Daughters (Detective Amanda Steele #2)

2022-04-08T01:59:17-06:00April 12th, 2021|Tags: , , , |0 Comments

Rating: 4 ♥'s | The book takes off not too long after the first book. Amanda is still dealing with what is going to happen with her mom's murder trial. We don't see much of that because right away Amanda is put onto a case of another serial killer.

Top Ten Books I Would Love To See Made Into A Movie or TV Series

2021-02-09T18:42:58-07:00February 9th, 2021|Tags: , , |4 Comments

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is a Valentine's Day/Love Freebie! I am joining the Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday for this prompt. This was hard for me to pick because there were a lot of ideas that I had and also that I saw my fellow readers post. I decided though instead of doing my top 10 couples that I would do my top 10 books I would love to see turned into a movie or a tv series. So for this, my books could be standalone or a series. Hope you enjoy and maybe I will be lucky and some of these will become a movie or show! Also, I only included those that haven't been made into a series, but I would like to note I think the Eragon (Inheritance Cycle) should be redone and also Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles) should also be redone.

Top Ten Books on My TBR That Were Written Before I Was Born

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is all about books on your to-be-read list that were written before you were born! I am joining the Artsy Reader Girl’s Top Ten Tuesday for this prompt. I was really excited for this one because I do feel books I have added awhile back get pushed to the back so it was fun to look back and see what ones before I was born, are still on my list to read. I definitely plan to keep these up closer in my reading list, it also helps because there are a few challenges in my reading challenges that are all about books on your TBR list.

Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Discovered in 2020

2021-01-26T11:23:55-07:00January 26th, 2021|Tags: , |5 Comments

Hey readers! I am joining in on The Artsy Reader Girl's Top Ten Tuesday today! It was fun going back through to see what authors I had discovered last year and it made me go oh yeah I need to go find other books by them or other books in the series that I haven't read. A few of these I have actually continued during last year, and even this year, reading their books. I did end up using one author that I read at the very end of last year that I just could not mention...looking at you Evie Dunmore! Excited to see what other authors others post about.

The Ever After (The Omte Origins #3)

2022-04-08T01:59:48-06:00January 25th, 2021|Tags: , , |0 Comments

Published: January 5, 2021 Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult Pages: 496 Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ Nestled along the bluffs of the forested coast lies the secret kingdom of the Omte--a realm filled with wonder...and as many secrets. The Ever After closes the last trilogy of the long-running Trylle series. I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was excited to continue my journey with the Omte Trilogy and see how the series came to a close. I did enjoy the book, however it did not live up to my expectations of what I thought it was going to be. I felt that beginning drug on a bit and it could have been shortened and it would have given the reader just as much information. Some of it was actually kind of confusing trying to figure out what was happening and who all the different places and tribes were. Once I got past that part though it got better and I got more engaged in it. I especially liked the final battle scene where you get all these different monster described and I just was imagining them in my [...]

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

2022-04-08T01:59:57-06:00January 13th, 2021|Tags: , , |0 Comments

Published: October 6, 2020 Genres: Fantasy, Historical Fiction Pages: 442 Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets. Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world. But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name. I have been wanting to read this book for a while now and I finally got it at the library and it worked out well because it worked for a few of my prompts for my reading challenges! A lot of my friends have read it so I wanted to see what everyone else was talking about. It took me a bit to get into the book, I will admit. At first, I was not as into it and thought that it kind of drug on in the beginning. [...]

Among the Beasts & Briars

2021-01-01T18:22:37-07:00December 17th, 2020|Tags: , , |0 Comments

Bood Description: Cerys is safe in the kingdom of Aloriya. Here there are no droughts, disease, or famine, and peace is everlasting. It has been this way for hundreds of years, since the first king made a bargain with the Lady who ruled the forest that borders the kingdom. But as Aloriya prospered, the woods grew dark, cursed, and forbidden. Cerys knows this all too well: when she was young, she barely escaped as the woods killed her friends and her mother. Now Cerys carries a small bit of the curse—the magic—in her blood, a reminder of the day she lost everything. The most danger she faces now, as a gardener’s daughter, is the annoying fox who stalks the royal gardens and won’t leave her alone. As a new queen is crowned, however, things long hidden in the woods descend on the kingdom itself. Cerys is forced on the run, her only companions the small fox from the garden, a strange and powerful bear, and the magic in her veins. It’s up to her to find the legendary Lady of the Wilds and beg for a way to save her home. [...]
